Hello,
My name is RoShon Kernessant. Currently, I am the Assistant Principal at Deerpark Middle School.  I am a Doctoral Student at Capella University. I am completing my project as a requirement to obtain my Doctoral Degree and looking for classroom teachers who would like to participate in the project.  The project is about Self-Efficacy, Equity, and Classroom Management.  The project will last about ten weeks; your participation is voluntary. If you wish to discontinue participation in the study, you make do so at any time. The project will consist of pre- to post-survey with equity intervention and feedback.  If you completed the first survey, please complete the Survey Monkey forms below by Friday, September 1, 2023.

Round Rock ISD is proud to announce that we provide students a district-issued Chromebook to promote consistency and equitable access for all of our students. Students are expected to bring their Chromebook to school with them each day. If your child has not yet checked out a Chromebook, they can check one out from their campus.

CHROMEBOOKS

In the 2023-2024 school year, the district expectation is that every student has a fully charged district Chromebook with them each day for all of their classes. This device will be taken home each night and brought back fully charged each day.

How you can help make this happen:

  • Complete the Student Device Agreement form in Infosnap (the RRISD student registration online forms) and select YES for the Device Agreement form. This is for all NEW and RETURNING students.
  • Talk with your student and find a place in your home to charge the chromebook each night.
  • Help your student get in the habit of plugging in the device each night and put it back in their backpack each morning.
  • Turn on and check your device BEFORE the school year begins.
  • Take time to already complete the Deerpark Software/App approval form for all students under age 13

If you already have a Chromebook:

  • Turn it on and make sure it is working properly
  • Clear the cache (should be done once every few weeks)
  • Update Chrome – should be done once a month.

Students without district issued devices:

  • New students, those that never received them, or those who may have accidentally returned it to their previous campus will be receiving one in the first 3 weeks of school if their paperwork is complete.

If your device OR charger is not working/is broken/is lost:

  • Please bring broken devices to school starting on Thursday 8/18 where we will process repairs during lunches. You will be contacted by the device team regarding any assessed fees.
  • Lost devices or chargers can be purchased from your campus ITS
  • Please be sure to read the fee scale on the Device Agreement form that is hyperlinked in the registration you completed for RRISD enrollment.

Regarding Schoology:

  • We will continue to use Schoology as our Learning Management System. Students classes will not yet be showing until the afternoon of Aug 15th.
  • Once School begins parents can get their password from any of their student’s teachers

Thank you for helping to create a successful start to the year!
