Greetings Deerpark Community!
Congratulations to our 8th grade students and teachers for their success on the STAAR Reading and Math assessment. 93% of our 8th grade students passed Reading and 90% passed math! We are so proud of you!
As we move into the last month of school, I want to remind you of upcoming events.
The PTA STAR party is Friday, May 2nd from 3:30-5:30. All students are invited to stay after school to enjoy food and fun.
The 6th and 7th grade End of School Dance is Friday, May 9th from 6:30 -8:30 in the cafeteria. The theme is summer beach party and is for 6th and 7th graders only! Dress is casual, and students can wear shorts and tank tops—no bathing suits!
Our 8th grade only dance will be on Friday, May 16th from 6:30-8:30pm. The dress is semi-formal, and girls are allowed to wear dresses with “spaghetti” straps for this dance. It is a great evening for our 8th graders, and we look forward to celebrating their last middle school dance with them.
Final Exams will be on May 27-28th
The 7th grade award ceremony is on May 29th at 2:00 in the gymnasium. Any student who has a 90 or above average for the year will be recognized. If your child is receiving an individual award, then you will be contacted by the teacher.
The 6th grade award ceremony is at 9:00am on May 29th in the gymnasium. Any student who has a 90 or above average for the year will be recognized. If your child is receiving an individual award, then you will be contacted by the teacher.
Our 8th grade graduation and award ceremony is on Friday, May 30th at 2:00pm in the gymnasium. Students should dress in “Sunday dress” for the ceremony. All parents and family members are invited to attend. The 8th graders will have their annual celebration at Main Event on Thursday, May 29th. Students should wear shorts, t-shirts, and comfortable shoes.
Other important information:
Locker clean-out is Friday, May 23rd for all students—this includes PE. Students should take all personal items home on this day. Backpacks will not be allowed in school the last week of school. Students will not need any supplies---teachers will provide whatever supplies they will need. We will place all items for lost in found on the stage during the last week of school. Any item not collected by the last day of school will be donated.
The cafeteria will only be serving sack lunches on the last day of school.
