A Message from our Principal

Greetings Deerpark Community!

Our 8th grade graduation and award ceremony is on Thursday, June 4th at 2:00pm in the gymnasium.  Students should dress in “Sunday dress” for the ceremony.  All parents and family members are invited to attend.  The 8th graders will have their annual trip to The Main Event on Wednesday, June 3rd. Students should wear shorts, t-shirts, and comfortable shoes.

The 6th grade award ceremony is on June 3rd at 9:00am in the gymnasium.  Any student who has a 90 or above average for the year will be recognized. If your child is receiving an individual award, then you will be contacted by the teacher.  Students may go home with their parent after the ceremony, but for the safety of our students, we do ask that each child is signed out by their parent/guardian.  We will have a station in the gym for parents to sign their child out.  Students may only go home with their parent, and we will not release students to a non-parent or guardian.

The 7th grade award ceremony is at 2:00pm on June 3rd in the gymnasium.  Any student who has a 90 or above average for the year will be recognized. If your child is receiving an individual award, then you will be contacted by the teacher.

June 5th is a bad weather make-up day.  We will be on alternate schedule, and students will rotate through STEAM enrichment clusters and outdoor field activities.  Please make sure students wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes on June 5th.

Other important information:

  • Locker clean-out is Friday, May 29th for all students—this includes PE.  Students should take all personal items home on this day.  We will place all items for lost in found on the stage during the last week of school.  Any item not collected by the last day of school will be donated. No backpacks will be allowed during the week of June 1st.
  • Final Exams for 7th and 8th grade students will be on June 1-2.
  • The cafeteria will only be serving sack lunches on the last day of school.

It is a pleasure serving your students and our community, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sonya Hayes
